Canon Film Workshop

Members are provided with training on video and other software skills both by seniors as well as professionals in the industry. The Canon Film Workshop held at Hwa Chong in 2006 was an opportunity for both members of our club and students from other schools to pick up filming and video editing techniques from professionals hired by Canon.

In the workshop, students are taught the basics of filming that involves the process of scripting and storyboarding. Utilization of different camera angles for different purposes are also covered. Students also learnt to use simpler application, such as iMovie to edit their videos, put in transitions and effects. While the workshop focused on more home video style of film making, it paves the way for us to pick up more skills that would be applicable in our projects.

Members of Sensorium Vale are also encouraged to hone their organization skills by organising similar workshops for peers or juniors in the school. The Filmaholic Workshops (planned, organized and conducted by Sensorium Vale) in the past years have helped students of Hwa Chong pick up similar skills that are fundamental to video making. We look forward to having new members capable of organizing bigger workshops or possibly in-school competition that will benefit the student population.
