SV handover!

May 27, 2008

SV handover was a blast. Everyone had quite a fun time preparing (brewing?), and spilling, tea. Dominic the pyromancer and BBQ IC also conducted interesting experiments on the combustion of noodles, tea leaves, toothpicks and tweezers (luckily the latter did not combust…) LOL XD   Too bad we don’t have photos of his intriguing research…

Yup, so first up today was a video showcasing the work and friendship of the 11th batch of SV members. It has been a fun one year+ with SV as a batch, and personally I am both happy (burden and stress removed) and sad (it’s like… all over… so fast; the journey was fun and i’m glad i made friends in SV). Well, guess bittersweet feelings are normal…

This is the video that was screened (courtesy of ANIMOTO our friend)

After that was the announcement of the new EXCO. Below are the results:
Creative Director: nobody! (due to lack of suitable applicants)
Public Relations Manager: Jesslyn
Welfare Manager: Cheronne
Resource Manager: Huayi
Technical Director: Priscilla
Manpower Manager: Lynne
Secretary-Treasurer: Kwan Ki
Vice-President: Hwei Ee
President: Grace

Here is the jobscopes (revised since the powerpoint we presented when you applied for EXCO). Note, do be flexible still; this jobscope list is mainly a guideline to organise manpower and help in specialisation. Here is the final member list.

Leon made a good point in mentioning that your batch is the first batch in quite a while that the EXCO does not make up 50% or more of the active club membership. For those who did not get a post, don’t be disappointed; there are many other avenues you can take to shine in SV (eg. volunteer to be project director for projects like Orientation video – haha but “credentials” of dedication and responsibility are required). Yup!

Be brave and aim high, as I can safely say that, as of now, the number of active members in your batch is 18, nearly 3 times that of my batch. Keep everyone involved, and I hope that your passion in these areas and commitment to the club will continue. The passion and commitment is a key strength of your club – maximise the potential here.

And don’t worry about the upcoming year, the most important thing is to enjoy every leg of your journey in SV! One year is really short, so make best use of it to have fun! Do make an effort to make some friends within the club within the end of this year, because it’s either now or never; next year all of you will be seriously mired down with a lot of clashing commitments.

Ok this sounds so much like a super long and boring speech, and I shall end here. But the above are things we seniors learnt from our time in SV, and we hope that the points will be useful.

Below are some documents that you may need:
SV logo (Old) (New)

SV Mailing List – for convenient emailing, just copy out the paragraph of email addresses
SV contact list – includes many other members who have quit already; you should have them in ur emails (this file have been deleted from the net because of the sensitive information it contains)
SV Photo List – in case you have problems remembering faces of your batchmates.

30 week plan template (you will be asked to do it near the end of this year)
ICube Submission template (you will be told to submit something for term 3 this year). We settled terms 1 and 2 already, and got second most innovative CCA out of like 37 for term 1 =)
Receipt to be issued to clients.

Phew that was a lot of documents! I will pass Kwan Ki ALL the accumulated documents (including the .pdfs for sv logo, cip hour template, etcetc) by cd/dvd soon (stupid wordpress does not allow .txt, .pdf and .xls file types…). If you need the passwords for various SV accounts (eg. blog, youtube, gmail, flickr, animoto, school sv room comp, src comp), approach Hwei Ee or Grace.

That’s about it, do contact us if you need help. We seniors will still be glad to help although we have handed over already. I’ll be back with photos of the handover shortly. Thanks!

Btw, do comment if you feel like it! (eg. for harapan’s video). Click on the link to the top right corner of each post. Let’s make this blog more active (we will be releasing the password and username to everyone in the club so everyone can post – eg. about your favourite recent movie haha)
